2019 MUNash Speakers

A key element that MUNash brings its participants is the opportunity to hear from esteemed speakers. The 2019 Conference was no different. Attendees were able to hear from keynote speakers on video and in-person. The 2019 Secretariat are incredibly grateful for the time and effort our guests provided to us. See below to find out who we were able to hear from in 2019.

Julie-Ann Guivarra [addressed via video]

Ms Guivarra is a senior career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. She recently served as Australia’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain, Andorra and Equatorial Guinea where she became Australia’s first female Indigenous Ambassador. She has now been appointed as the Australian Ambassador for Gender Equality.

 

George Brandis [addressed via video]

George Brandis is Australia’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, taking office last year. He was previously the Senator for Queensland, a role he held for 18 years, the Attorney General in both the Abbott and Turnbull Governments, as well as being Leader of the Government in the Senate.

 

Rebecca Shrimpton [in-person address]

Rebecca Shrimpton is the Senior Adviser Major Powers to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Women, the Hon. Marise Payne. She has been an officer at the Department of Defence, a Counsellor of Defence Strategic Policy at our Embassy in Washington DC and a director at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

 

Christopher Lamb [in-person address]

Christopher Lamb is the Chair of the Australia Myanmar Institute. He served as a career diplomat for over 32 years with postings in Vienna, New York, Bangkok and Washington, as well as serving as our Ambassador to Myanmar between 1986-88 and our Ambassador to Yugoslavia between 1997-2000. Specialising in humanitarian law and humanitarian causes, Christopher is also a special adviser to the International Red Cross.
