MODEL UNITED NATIONS
2-DAY CONFERENCE - MUNASH
OVERVIEW
At MIAS, we run our own Model UN Conference (MUNASH). Run over two days, it provides participants with the opportunity to experience a ‘bite-sized’ version of International MUN conferences in our GlobalMUN Program and serves as crucial delegate training for our award-winning International MUN teams.
MUNASH simulates United Nation Conferences, by allocating students nations of the world and have them represent their nation’s interests and advance their foreign policy. This is via speeches on various issues, collaborative discussions and creation of resolutions which must be passed with a majority support. Delegates must negotiate with each other to find an achievable solution keeping in mind the diplomatic constraints of their represented country.
This process allows students to gain practical skills including public speaking, diplomacy and negotiation to equip them to be change-makers and the next generation of leaders. It enhances their key transferable skills of cross cultural communication, research, leading negotiations, public speaking and teamwork, while appreciating other international perspectives.

Established in 2011, The Monash International Affairs Society (MIAS) is a student-run, not-for-profit international affairs society at Monash University.
With over 300 members from a diverse range of disciplines across Monash, MIAS aims to provide its members with opportunities to engage with the international order and delve into global issues. The Monash International Affairs Society (MIAS) is a trailblazer in international Model United Nations (MUN) competitions. Our teams consistently bring home awards, demonstrating the excellence and dedication that set us apart on the global stage.
We strive to create a hub where our members can develop relationships with international leaders in foreign affairs targeting global issues.
